We’re not quite sure how to describe I’ll Be John Brown’s music. It’s like almost Psychedelic Speed Country, if that makes sense? Have a listen over at their site, and if you’re into it, they’ll be playing a show at Spike Hill in Brooklyn this Sunday night.

If Max Fish and Pianos banged, this would be the spawn.

“These artists represent the rebellious spirit that we very much connect with-mixing old with new, defying boundaries and creating fresh individual perspectives,” said Susanne Dawursk, Harley-Davidson director of Outreach Marketing. “The Art Of Rebellion is a must-see event that showcases the artists and supports the art community at large.”
We were blessed with a signed print by Frank Kozik to give away to one lucky reader, so to make it interesting, we ask that you submit your favorite moment/image of Harley-Davidson history. To give you an idea, see after the jump.

Our homie Jason Douglas Griffin opens a new show tonight, 7 – 10pm at Leo Kesting in the Meatpacking District. Be there, we will.
“The raging 80’s- a time of sex, white lines and financial excess, gave way to a generation of twentysomethings worlds away from their baby boomer parents. With a title seemingly cribbed from a John Hughes’ film, “Getting to Know Someone: 80’s Babies” explores the intersection of self and city in a generation freshly bereft of their cultural icons.
80’s Babies continues Jason’s dialog with the 1980’s generation. “These works are elaborate profiles of the subject and the city in which they live,” states gallerist David Kesting, “With the incorporation of found materials, Griffin’s paintings capture the relationship between the city, the viewer and his subjects.”

In honor of the MoMA retrospective Spike Jonze: The First 80 Years, PopRally has invited producer and photographer Patrick O’Dell (of Epicly Later’d) to create a special compilation of seminal skateboard videos from the 1980s to today. Jonze, whose own contributions to the genre will be featured, notes that, “Skate videos have been a big influence and a big part of what I’ve done for a long time. They are how I got into film, actually.” This unique screening is followed by a conversation with legendary skateboarders and filmmakers, including Jonze, Lance Mountain, Greg Hunt, Jake Phelps, Ty Evans, and other surprise guests.
Afterward please join us upstairs for a special performance by NO AGE.
The program begins promptly at 7:30.
