Heartbreakingly hilarious for any Star Wars fan who hated “The Phantom Menace”, questioned “Attack of the Clones”, and then thought “Revenge of the Sith” was mediocre at best, this set of reviews really twists the knife already stuck in you by George Lucas. These reviews appeared this month: Well-made video edits of clips and dry, chuckle-ready commentary – just when I thought I’d stop watching I kept going and watched a whole bunch of them.

Do The Right Thing turns 20, it also means Public Enemy’s Fight The Power, is also 20 years old. The film and the song brought attention to the racial divide that in America.  If you never seen the film please do, it’s Spike Lee’s masterpiece, and it still holds up and asks the same powerful question.

Spike Lee and the movie’s cast – Danny Aiello, Joie Lee and Rosie Perez – as well as Common, DMC, Branford Marsalis, Gloria Reuben and others will be on hand Monday night at the DGA Theater in Manhattan for a special screening of the movie. Via

I have been a fan of Vincent Gallo ever since I saw him in Buffalo 66. He has always stayed true to his indie roots. This new film, Tetro by Francis Ford Coppola looks like it will be his biggest crossover indie flick. Its in B&W, which is a plus. If the film is as good as the trailer……check it out.  In theaters June 26th.

Bret Easton Ellis was one of the first authors I enjoyed upon becoming a teenager.  I’m pretty sure it had something to do with the drugs, sex and wealth that were ever present in his books.  The Informers however, was the only book I didn’t really get, as it wasn’t as fluid and I assumed it was about (or could only focus on) vampires.  Years have passed since that introduction and now on the horizon is the big-screen adaptation of the tiny book.  If this movie—Starring Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Amber Heard and the late Brad Renfro—ends up being anything like the trailer, you will leave it in typical Ellis fashion, yearning for a drink, a bump, and a fuck.  Due out in May 2009

If you are lucky enough to be going to Sundance this weekend, be sure to catch one of the screenings of “Asshole”. The short stars Gavin McInnes of Street Carnage and is directed by Chadd Harbold of Last Pictures. Last Pictures is a super talented production company and the strategic partner to StyleCaster.com.
