The Skullphone Controversy

Earlier in the week, Supertouch reported that LA artist Skullphone had hacked into Clear Channel’s digital billboards, interspersing the ads with his iconic Skullphone character. News came yesterday from Wired that the billboards were in fact paid for and that Clear Channel was upset that the idea of hacking was involved. To quote Clear Channel’s Tony Alwin. “The advertisement was bought under the assumption that it was art that was in an art show, Any claims about hacking into our systems is false. It’s a lie, even.” This to me sounds like bullshit, and Clear Channel is covering up a weakness in their security system, using denial to buy time to bolster up defense. Only Skullphone can really tell us the truth. Skullphone?
