This Thursday, 55DSL’s art studio: Studio55 kicks off Pic+Mix, a series of collabrative exhibits between two artist from different mediums working together. The first exhibit promises to be a good one, featuring art director Sanderson Bob and blacksmith Sam Sherbone. So if you’re in town check it out, and have free beer from Tiger.

description: Next Thursday Studio55 is home to the launch of Pic+Mix, a new series of art exhibitions curated by Intercity for 55DSL, where a renowned artist will select and work with a like-minded contemporary, a fresh new talent, or an artist from a completely different discipline - photography, sculpture, moving image, furniture design, music and more – of his own choice. This time, Sanderson Bob will work with blacksmith Sam Sherborne to capture the craft, quality, personality and story that one-off handmade objects possess. As well a sculpture, there will be a number of prints created for the show inspired by the time Bob has spent with Sam in his workshop in Sheffield, a collaboration that promises to produce an uninhibited selection of work! Intercity is a London-based graphic design studio with a network of collaborators from the worlds of art, design, illustration, photography, and more. Sanderso Bob studied graphic design at Central St. Martins in London before commencing on a professional career that took him from designing music magazines in Amsterdam, to a full-time recent clients include Nike, Microsoft and Nokia. Collaboration is important for Sanderson Bob, as different disciplines and associations feed his thirst for new ideas and inspirations. Content and a varied innovative style are key to Sanderson Bob. Sam Sherborne has been making furniture and sculpture in steel since leaving the London College of Furniture in 1989. Initially working in London at Kew Bridge Steam Museum, and now based supplied private clients and shops throughout the UK. Studio55 is a working creative space in the heart of London’s media hub, Soho. Situated above the 55DSL store on Newburgh Street, Studio55, formally the mezzanine level of the store, recently became a disused space that was crying out for some 55DSL TLC. After working with, collaborating and supporting artists and musicians for the past 15 years and gaining much respect within the media world, 55DSL wanted to create a space that complimented the store and that could be used by creative types looking for somewhere to either work, play or exhibit. 55DSL wanted to provide somewhere inspirational for the brand itself and the artists, which in turn and with a little help from 55DSL, offers support for emerging artists to make their mark in this difficult industry. With a re-vamp of the space, Tiger Beer on board as sponsors (thank you very much!) and interest from London creatives, press and friends of 55DSL.. Studio55 was born!
