Artist David Horvitz has come up with one of those genius internet ideas that makes you pissed off that you didn’t think of it. For various amounts of money, he will do various things for you. For example, the picture above is of star sand and in his words
“If you give me $1,626 I will go to the small Okinawan island called Iriomote and send you an envelope filled with star-sand (don’t worry, I’ve been there before, I know where to go). I will send it from there.”

Mark Brown at The Guardian gives a great video tour of a large cache of Banksy pieces that are in the underground parking facility of the Swiss Embassy in London. If only those great Barry McGee / Margaret Kilgallen (plus Shepard Fairey, Faile, David Choe and lot of other street art) pieces in the LACMA garage could have ended up with the same fate.

I hadn’t the slightest clue that something like this actually existed in our world. I know that some people like art and some don’t. Each person has their own taste, that is for sure. But to be anxious about purchasing pieces, come on. The New York Times writes about such things in February 28th’s paper.
In my personal experience, I have bought on whims (like one individual mentioned) and never hung the art. But with these pieces I just wait for the right person who I can gift them to. Art is a great gift. Read the article and if you do truly need advice on buying a piece, email me, I can be your consultant.
